PHAPTAWAN SUWANNAKUDT

This coming month PHAPTAWAN SUWANNAKUDT will be included in two prominent group exhibitions in Sydney. 

In the still of an ordinary day is showing at Janet Clayton Gallery, this exhibition will run from 27 January - 20 February 2016. 

Twenty Twenty opens 6 February to 20 February at the Old Rum Store, Chippendale. Curated by Chippendale Creative Precinct and Claudia Chan Shaw the exhibition features twenty world-renowned Asian artists displaying works that embody moments of clarity inspired by the precision of 20:20 vision.

IMANTS TILLERS

Here is an interview with IMANTS TILLERS and the Australian Tapestry Workshop.

The artist discusses his artistic practice and how it informed the design for his project with the Australian Tapestry Workshop. His work, titled Avenue of Remembrance, is a commemorative response to the First World War centenary and is available for public viewing at the Australian War Memorial

JANET LAURENCE

The exhibition catalogue for JANET LAURENCE's show, entitled Deep Breathing, is available to view online here

This show was exhibited as part of the 2015 Artists 4 Paris Climate Conference and FIAC 2015. Laurence created a 'reef hospital' displaying the threatened coral and other marine species of the Great Barrier Reef.  The installation was exhibited at the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle.

TRACY SARROFF is among an array of established and emerging artists selected to exhibit at the Barn Gallery, Monstsalvat to be opened on Saturday 28th January and continuing to 14th March.

Laughing Waters Road: Art, Landscape and Memory in Eltham is an exhibition of works created by artists who have taken part in the Laughing Waters Artist Residency program over the past 15 years. This exhibition displays works produced by artists inspired by their Laughing Waters artist residency. Works on display demonstrate a connection and spirit of ‘place’ as well as a dialogue between past ideas and contemporary art practice.

MARIA FERNANDA CARDOSO

MARIA FERNANDA CARDOSO will be part of the exhibition Persona - Strangely Human, curated by Emmanuel Grimaud and Anne-Christine Taylor-Descola, at the Musée du Quai Branly in Paris, France. The show, which explores the unusual and intimate relationships between humans and objects, will feature The Cardoso Flea Circus.

Persona - Strangely Human will be on view as of 26 January and will run until 13 November 2016.

The making of NIKE SAVVAS's site-specific project, Colours are the Country, at 50 Martin Place for Macquarie Group has been featured in Episode 1 of the new SBS program, Big Art.

Big Art is a six part series on SBS, which follows Urban Art Projects (UAP) across six challenging public art commissions and edition art projects.

The episode may be streamed, via SBS On Demand, until 7 February 2016.

MARIA FERNANDA CARDOSO is featured in Contingent Beauty: Contemporary Art from Latin America, a major group exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

The exhibition continues until 28 February 2016 and features a selection of major works by 21 established artists from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, and Venezuela. The exhibition highlights contemporary artists who use seductive and engaging materials to convey their social, political, and environmental concerns.
